Opa! - Ancient Greek and Original Music

Opa! is the synthesis of Elizabeth and Shane's years of study, performance, and devotion to the many forms of middle eastern and mediterranean music and dance with their project Boom Boom Shake and their new found passion for Greek music. They look forward to bringing this show to a festival near you!

Shane Chikeles is of Greek descent and is now connecting to his roots through the rich cultural heritage of Greek music. Elizabeth and Shane hope to keep this beautiful music alive through education and performance.

Opa! performs a variety of ancient and traditional songs as well as some originals on Greek instruments such as the bazouki, frame drum, doumbek, and lyre harp. Elizabeth and Shane are excited to share with you an ancient Greek song which is the oldest surviving musical composition in the world dating back to the first or second century CE.
